(Andrew Putler) Much recent work in this direction has referred specifically to the philosophy of deconstruction, as inspiration for this kind of challenge to tradition and expectation. Particularly interesting in this regard is the collaboration between Derrida and Peter Eisenman, after he had been invited by the architect to work with him on a portion of the Parcde la Villette in Paris. The most startling aspect of this project for the purpose of our current discussion is the analysis that Derrida makes of the plans for the larger project. By taking up the themes of Bernard Tschumi’s masterplan, he effective reads his own philosophy into the architectural forms proposed.
